Mike Smith and Andy Newbold, two well-established local
businessmen,
have decided to create Location Surrey as a joint
venture.
Mike Smith

Mike has a wealth of business experience spanning
several decades, encompassing the worlds' of commerce, music and media.
On a commercial front Mike owns a number of
management and consultant companies (mostly though not exclusively in
music and media) and has specialist knowledge in the fields of
budgeting and law.
From a media and music
perspective Mike has managed and advised many individuals, as well as
commercial, and state-owned, enterprises; these include (but are not
limited to)
BBC TV and Radio, Ford Motor Company, Sony,
American Express, British Film Board, London Weekend Television, David
Frost, Rolf Harris and Michael Grade.
Artistes specifically in the music industry;
Billy Ocean,
whose launch in the United States, Mike was personally responsible, the
management of
Hazel O'Connor and
Rick Wakeman
as well as discovering
Adam and the Ants plus
launching the
Smurfs!
Mike has
been responsible for the creation of over two hundred hours of original
television production whilst within the music industry, he has overseen
the production of numerous records that have, in total, sold in excess
of fifty million copies.
In various capacities
related to the above acitvities, Mike has travelled extensively both
within the UK and worldwide, during which time he has built a network
of varied contacts - many related directly to the production of music
and film.
Mike lives in Cobham, Surrey with his
wife (UK kid's TV icon Sally James) and their three children. Amongst a
host of hobbies his primary interest of late has been the development,
promotion and management of the
Oxshott Royals, his local
youth football club. The various teams are geared to promote the
sporting activities of the children in the local towns and villages.
There are currently twenty-six teams of seven to eighteen year olds.
Andy Newbold

Andy has exceptional entrepreneurial skills enabling
him, in a few short years, to establish his own successful photography
business in Leatherhead, Surrey.
Prior to setting
up on a self-employed basis, Andy developed his marketing and
management skills working for several photography and portrait studios
in the UK.
In recent years Andy has broadened his
horizons and works for various agencies, providing photography for
names such as
HWM Aston Martin, Ocean Independence,
the
Mole Valley Council and he is the official
photographer for the
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.
On a more local level, publications such as
Surrey
Life, Surrey Downs Magazine and
Which?
provide projects and business opportunities in and around the Home
Counties. Andy plays several key roles in the promotion of Leatherhead,
including work on behalf of the town's prestigious theatre and drama
festival.
On a personal note Andy lives with his
family in Dorking, situated in the heart of Surrey. He combines work
with his hobbies and these include all aspects of the arts as well as
managing and designing a pictorial website of the sights of Surrey.
This website
currently contains over 30,000 images, including portraits, weddings,
commercial work as well as local events.
